| | | 'Rob-B-Hood' testimony to Jackie Chan's amazing physical creativity | | Posted Thursday, October 05, 2006 11:04:32 PM by Blog57 Team | | HONG KONG (AP) - Going into a Jackie Chan movie, audiences don't expect moody lighting or artistic camera angles. They don't expect a social crusade. They want a feast of Chan's signature action comedy, which has transcended mere stunts to become an art form. Chan delivers on that count successfully in his latest Chinese-language film "Rob-B-Hood,'' the story of three thieves who kidnap a baby for a crime boss and then have a change of heart. It's easy to take Chan's nimble moves and death-defying stunts for granted. What's so impressive about jumping off buildings and being able to twist your body like a pretzel? It's sheer guts and physical exertion, skeptics may say. Now consider the fact that Chan is still going at it four decades into his acting career.... | |

Speaking at the Venice Film Festival, the Hong Kong star compared how he was greeted by fans gesticulating and shouting wildly, whereas he imagined De Niro commanded something closer to subdued awe. "When they see me, 'Ah, ah Jackie Chan!'" the actor told a news conference after the press screening of Rob-B-Hood. I say, why does nobody say 'Robert De Niro!'," Daily Mail quoted him as saying. "So I want to change, so that some day they say 'Wow, Jackie Chan' and not move again and again. So I want a change," he added. Chan is in Venice to promote his new comedy 'Rob-B-Hood', in which he plays a gambler who kidnaps the infant grandson of a tycoon and is left holding the baby.... | |

| | | Jackie Chan s kung-fu kickin coffee | | Posted Sunday, August 13, 2006 7:09:01 PM by Blog57 Team | | He was hours late and almost didn't make it all because of a typhoon that forced him to charter his own plane and secure landing rights at the last minute. "I risked my life as we were bouncing and bouncing for almost two hours," the man said in his thick Cantonese accent. But not even a storm could keep him from coming to Manila. He, after all, has beaten the Rush Hour, gone Around the World in 80 Days and even survived a Rumble in the Bronx. And despite recent reports of alleged boorish and insulting behavior onstage at another fellow's concert in Taiwan from this Drunken Master, the internationally renowned comedian and martial arts movie star arrived in the country sober and smiling. The crooner with several albums to his name even gave pop star Gary Valenciano a run for his money and sang an Elvis Presley tune a cappella and charmed his way through throngs of anxious journalists.... | |
